In 2023, there was a big shortage of spark plugs for cars like the Kia Cerato, Hyundai Elantra AD, and Hyundai Accent RB. Retailers had to get creative and use different types of spark plugs to keep things running. They used Nissan Sunny N17 spark plugs (which have a 14mm nut instead of the usual 16mm), Renault Clio spark plugs (also with a 14mm nut), and even Mercedes Benz platinum spark plugs (with a 16mm nut), which surprisingly worked well.
A few days ago, a customer messaged me on WhatsApp asking for a Nissan Bluebird Sylphy spark plug, saying it was similar to the Nissan Tiida one. I gave him the price, but when he came to the shop, the storekeeper called to tell me I had recommended the wrong spark plug. Confused, I went to the store to figure out what was going on. To my surprise, the old spark plug in the customer’s car was an NGK Cerato one, which I had never seen before. Despite my explanation, the customer insisted it was the right plug, so we sold him what he wanted.
